Tell us a little about yourself (not the cats)
I do a lot of crossposting and networking for animals, especially in CT but elsewhere as I belong to lots of Yahoo groups. I am disabled because of a back problem that leaves me in constant pain. While reclining in my comfortable recliner and with my laptop on my lap, I spend hours trying to help animals in need. I am married and we have 3 cats, 2 beagles, and one orange-winged Amazon parrot. All of them were adopted or in the case of the 3 cats, they adopted us (in different years). Besides our furbabies and feathered baby, we feed the animals that visit our big yard- chipmunks, squirrels, birds, turkeys, deer, and a few days ago, a young groundhog checked out our yard for a possible home but found that our yard was too busy with animals to stay.
State (for sorting purposes)

Now you can tell us a little about your cat (s)
Asa, our oldest at 19 yrs, is a black cat with no tail (he was hit by a car when he was young). When our neighbors moved, they left Asa behind. Since he used to hang out at our house, we already loved him and he and our Beagle Chance basically grew up together. When we took Chance home at 8 wks old, she absolutely loved Asa and they even played wrestle together, even though he was our neighbor's cat. Because of her love for Asa, she loved every cat she saw on our walks and she never understood why all those cats ran away from her. When Chance died 2 yrs ago, Asa really missed her. Asa is our "miracle cat" that went missing and was gone for 2 wks. We thought an animal got him and grieved during the days he was gone. On July 4th, he scratched the door and I was shocked to see that he was alive (though skinny as a rail). He's gained all the weight he lost and he seems like his regular old self. We think he chased after a stray cat that had been hanging around, and got lost in the woods.
Patch, a white and black adorable and nutty boy showed up 3 yrs ago. After hanging around for days, we took him in, and got him neutered and vetted. After some fights between Asa (who was an only cat for 10 yrs) and Patch, they became best buddies. They play wrestle and out of respect, Patchy lets Asa be on top and lets Asa be the victor (Patch is bigger and stronger than Asa). Patch makes us laugh with his silly antics. For instance, when my husband has his shirt off, Patch tries to lick Mark's armpits. And he likes to lick the shirt that Mark takes off when on the deck. He also likes to lay above our heads and lick our hair in bed or in chairs or the couch. Sometimes he sleeps on his back with his legs up in the air! Silly boy!
Katie, our little calico girl, showed up physically starving one day 2 yrs ago. She hung out with me on the deck and was lovable. We got her spayed and vetted, and tried to find a home for her (our vet thought she was about 7 months old) for 2 weeks. We were unsuccessful so we kept her and we were already in love with her. She never got bigger so she's a petite little girl. She likes to sleep on me in bed.
